Why riders order a custom saddle
Factory saddles are universal - built to suit the broadest possible audience "well enough". The problem is "well enough" is not well. If you ride more than a few hours per week, if you have long or short legs, if you have back problems, if you want a saddle that matches your bike's overall style - a factory saddle doesn't deliver.
A custom saddle solves three problems at once: comfort (foam and shape built for how you sit), ergonomics (height and angle match your riding style) and looks (saddle matches your bike).
Motorcycle types we build for
We work with almost every motorcycle type. Main categories:
- Cruiser and chopper - wide, low, rider-forward seating. Softer padding and vintage-style leather preferred.
- Café racer - narrow, high, forward-leaning. Needs sporty padding, contrast stitching, perfectionist finishing.
- Sport bike - short saddle, raised tail support, non-slip material (perforated leather or microfibre).
- Naked and touring - wider, more comfortable, built for longer rides. Larger padding, denser foam, stitching that won't pull out over years.
- Scrambler and off-road - durable material, dirt-resistant, unfazed by rain or dust.
- Classic motorcycles - Soviet-era bikes (Java, MZ, Ural, Dnepr), vintage Honda CBs, BMW R-series - we preserve the original look using period-appropriate materials.
- ATVs and quads - durability is the priority, often dual-seat layouts, standing-rider areas.
- Snowmobiles - winter-grade materials, cold resistance, non-slip, wet-resistant.
What we do, exactly
Custom saddle build
A brand-new saddle, built for you. We start from your existing saddle base (the frame part) or build a new one. Together we decide:
- Shape - width, length, bolster height, tail support (high, low, none)
- Padding - firmness (soft, medium, firm), thickness, distribution (more under thighs, less at the rear)
- Material - real vs synthetic leather, colour, texture, perforation
- Stitching - colour, pattern (straight lines, diamond, ribbed), contrast
- Personal touches - logo embossing, coloured inserts, initials
Saddle cover replacement
The existing saddle frame and foam are in good condition, but the cover is worn, creased or torn. We replace just the leather or fabric surface. Takes 3–7 days and costs significantly less than a full new saddle.
Comfort and ergonomic adjustment
The saddle looks fine visually, but the ride is uncomfortable - your backside goes numb, lower back aches, your feet reach the ground awkwardly. We solve these by changing shape and padding, often without significantly altering the external look.
Logo or pattern embossing
We emboss your logo, pattern, initials or club mark on the saddle. Works on both real and synthetic leather. Vector files are best (SVG, AI, PDF) but a quality raster image (PNG, JPG) usually works too.
Material selection
Real leather
Longest service life (8–12 years in regular use), beautiful ageing (the saddle leather develops a "lived" look over years), best feel. Needs regular care with leather conditioner, especially if the saddle is outside or used through winter. Particularly suited to cruiser, chopper, classic and touring styles.
Synthetic leather (PU/PVC)
Significantly cheaper, very UV- and rain-resistant, easy to clean (handles dry mud, juice, oil). Service life 4–7 years in active use. Modern synthetic leather looks good, especially perforated and textured versions. Suited to daily riders, sport-bike rear seats, ATVs and snowmobiles.
Specialist materials
We also stock microfibre (for sport bikes needing non-slip surface), thermally sealed leather (for winter) and UV-stabilised synthetic leather (for saddles staying outdoors).
How to order - 4 steps
- Send an enquiry. Call +372 504 9764, email info@nahkur.com or fill in the form on the homepage. Include the motorcycle model, saddle condition (if known), and what you want (new saddle vs cover replacement vs repair).
- Inspection + quote. We need to see the saddle - bring it to Võru or send via parcel locker. We assess condition, agree material, colour, shape and other details. We send a written quote.
- The work. A custom saddle is built in 1–3 weeks. Cover replacement takes 3–7 days. We let you know when the work is halfway and when complete.
- Handover. The saddle is shipped back by post or courier, or you come collect it. We include care instructions and, for real leather, the first sample of leather conditioner.
